“Exotic spice, cocoa and cassis aromas provide segue for a soft, creamy-smooth, medium-bodied stream of palate-bathing flavours with cherry pie filling and hints of chocolate-covered maraschino cherries to the fore. It’s straightforward, uncomplicated and nicely balanced with persistent fruit flavour and a fairly lengthy balanced finish and aftertaste. It’s good to go now with burgers, grilled sausage or steak.”

Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas is a personal project of the oenologist Nuno Cancela de Abreu, launched in 1991 with the objective of producing estate-bottled wines from the reawakening ancient wine region of the Dão. The philosophy underlining the project was to produce wines of high quality but of essentially Portuguese character, using the traditional native grape varieties of the region.

Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas was founded in 1991, when a group of oenologists, viticulturists and businessmen, decided to pool their collective vast experience in the wine trade and produce single estate wines in the noble and historic Portuguese region of the Dão. The philosophy that inspired the creation of the company was based on the production of wines of the highest quality, but with distinctive Portuguese character.
They believed that the best Portuguese grape varieties which were well adapted to the ecological conditions of climate, soil could produce distinguished world-class wines. Sociedade Agrícola Boas Quintas has its headquarters in the town of Mortágua, where the small winery lies beside the magnificent family home of the Cancela de Abreu.

“Very deep intense purple colour. Attractive, bright, juicy, ripe cherry-cassis puree nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, harmonious, ripe cherry-plum puree flavours with a lingering, cedary finish."

"Gorgeous fragrant bouquet with dried fruit, clove, smoked bacon, sous bois, and graphite on the nose. Beautifully balanced, it's elegant with a remarkably supple texture. The palate shows layers of dark fruit, figs, plum, and spice with a long and inviting finish. An exceptional wine with terrific structure making it ideally suited for enjoyment now and will cellar beautifully over the next 5+ years. Enjoy with Leitao (suckling pig), Espetada (grilled beef kebabs), or Chourico (smoked sausage), to name a few top picks. A buy by the case wine that offers exceptional value!"

“An easy-drinking red blend from central Portugal that is surprisingly elegant. Spritely but not acidic, mid-weight without notable oak. Fresh and enjoyable with enough complexity to hold your interest. Good value."
