Thanks VIP for your Excellent Work

Just a short note to mention that I am extremely satisfied with your efforts in getting our Petite Sirah ordered by Vintages and then your helpfulness with the paperwork and labeling.

I am pleased to see that your promotion to Wine Reviewers and Product Consultants is already getting results. It seems like the wine is gaining some great top-of-mind awareness at Vintages.

Keep up the good work.

Straight Talk on Doing Business in Ontario at the LCBO

(Liquor Control Board of Ontario)

In Ontario, our #1 Job as agents is to find and offer the General List and Vintages Buyers with wines that have an excellent quality to price ratio. Unfortunately because the Buyers are offered many more brands that they could realistically purchase, most of our submissions on behalf of suppliers are declined. Although we try to offer wines which we believe will be competitive for the Call’s/ Tender’s needs, we frankly do not know and sometimes are surprised as to what the Buyer shows interest in.

As your representative, we use our best efforts to advocate for your wines and   spark Buyer interest.  When the Buyer wants a sample to taste, it is a big step forward. Whether it is purchased depends on how the wine is rated by the Buyer’s panel of tasters.  On our callbacks, we estimate about 35% will be purchased. But this statistic is irrelevant insofar as the key point is if the wine standouts from the competition being tasted. Also, you can have a very good wine that does not get purchased because of a small difference in the overall panel’s rating and the fact that the Buyer cannot purchase everything he or she is offered.

A wine that is going to be purchased, we provide guidance on dealing with the LCBO, importing and Canadian  labeling regulations. In essence we act as your a problem solver and consultant. On release we use various strategies at the store level to help make sure that your wine gets attention and sales. If it has good sell-through then it will not be penalized by having its selling price reduced plus it also increases the chances the Buyer will purchase it again.  In representing your brand, we use our experience, knowledge and simple boots on-the-ground work to enhance your brand’s awareness with the Buyer, store staff and consumers.
